Today
we went to the Fulton County Government and we sat in a government board
meeting. It was pretty interesting because I never sat in a government meeting.
Also, we were a part of that meeting. They actually honored Youth Trek and it
was our appreciation day. We received a proclamation declaring our appreciation
day. After we went in to the television broadcast room where they sent all of
the footage that is going on in the meeting to live TV. Their TV stations name
was FGTV. Then, we went in to the 911-service room where they take 911 calls. I
was able to hear a few of the calls. A few of them were funny and some were
pretty serious. I learned that the busiest times is the summer time because of
the kids being out of school. Also, the service callers sit in their seats for 8
hours or more. They have a total of 12 service callers. The service caller I
sat with was a man that had been working there for 5 years. He gave me a
wonderful piece of advice, which was to stay aware of my surroundings. After I
sat with him we sat with two women who both worked for Fulton County. They told
us to push forward with what we want to do and you can change your major as
much as you want. After we met with Ms.Jessica. She gave us hands out about
what jobs want to see and what to wear to a business interview. She also told
us to come early so the boss will know you are serious about this job. Also,
ask as many questions because you want the boss to know you are really
interested about your job. A lot of advice was given and I actually took note
of key things the people we have met over the trip have given us. If you are a
floor sweeper be the best floor sweeper. Don’t let anyone steal your shine.
Thank you to Ms. Claudia and Ms.Ethel for showing us around. -The Next
